The Elementary Sports League includes all grade schools in the Freeport School District. Junior Staff is an apprentice program for teenage Club members to explore a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. Teen Reach and Teen Outreach are initiatives that create and expand the range of choices and opportunities in the Club that enable, empower, and encourage teens to achieve positive growth and development and improve expectations and capacities for future success. MLK Day is celebrated at the Club on the annual holiday with guest speakers and a variety of performers to commemorate Dr. King’s legacy. Steak & Burger Night in October and the Fit Competition in July are the Club’s premiere fundraisers. Volunteers must be 16 years or older, complete a Boys & Girls Clubs volunteer application, and undergo a background check at the Club’s expense, which takes about a week, and as a starting point they can download the volunteer application from the website, complete it, and bring it when ready to begin serving at the Club.
