Twist & Shout Dance and Cheer

Twist & Shout Dance and Cheer offers Pre-Dance 1, Pre-Dance 2, Pre-Ballet, Ballet 1, Ballet 2, Ballet 3/4 - Pointe, Jazz 1, Jazz 2, Jazz 3, Jazz 4, Beginning Tap, and Intermediate Tap. Classes include Ballet vocabulary, poses, posture, simple tumbling skills, coordination, Tap, Jazz, barre work, center work, turns, leaps, jumps, foot work, warm-up, stretching, conditioning, and rhythm-based choreography.

Programs

• Pre-Dance 1 — Age 3-5 · Requirements: NONE. Objective includes basic Ballet vocabulary, poses, posture, simple tumbling skills, and basic coordination. Class starts with Ballet and the second half is Tumbling.
• Pre-Dance 2 — Age 4-6 · Requirements: pre-dance 1 strongly recommended. Objective includes Ballet vocabulary, basic skills, confidence, strength, and flexibility. Class starts with Tap and includes Jazz and Ballet.
• Pre-Ballet — Age 3-5 · Requirements: NONE. Objective includes proper posture and arm placements, basic body positions, Ballet vocabulary, acting skills, and gestures.
• Ballet 1 — Age 5-8 · Requirements: NONE. Focuses on posture, correct body placement, barre work, combinations at the barre and center, Ballet poses, and acting skills.
• Ballet 2 — Age 7-12 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. Focuses on posture, correct body placement, barre work, turnout, strength, flexibility, and weekly Ballet vocabulary review.
• Ballet 3/4 - Pointe — Age 10-18 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. Highest level of Ballet; reviews and tests Ballet terminology and progresses to longer combinations, more center work, and across-the-floor work.
• Jazz 1 — Age 5-8 · Requirements: NONE. Focuses on strength, flexibility, turns, leaps, jumps, foot work, warm-up, stretching, and moderate conditioning.
• Jazz 2 — Age 7-12 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. Reviews basic Jazz technique and progresses to more advanced skills and intricate combinations.
• Jazz 3 — Age 9-14 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. Builds strength, flexibility, turns, leaps, jumps, foot work, conditioning, progressions, and dance combinations.
• Jazz 4 — Age 12-18 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. Builds on Jazz basics with various styles, combinations, conditioning, and progressions.
• Beginning Tap — Age 5-8 · Requirements: NONE. Establishes groundwork in rhythm and musicality and teaches basic tap skills.
• Intermediate Tap — Age 7-14 · INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL REQUIRED. For tappers with 1-3 years of experience; reviews and perfects basic steps and adds challenging routines and rhythm-based choreography.

The goal of Twist & Shout Dance and Cheer is to promote artistic excellence through quality dance, cheer, and tumbling instruction. The 2026-2027 season runs from September 8, 2026, to June 5, 2027, and the 18th Annual Recital is scheduled for June 5, 2027.
