About

Lincoln-Way Youth Flag Football (Mokena Youth Athletic Association) offers flag football using a format that does not require helmets or pads. The program uses the same style of flag football played by all three Lincoln-Way High School flag football programs and mirrors the format adopted by the Olympics and IHSA. Divisions include Co-Ed Pee Wee, Co-Ed Intermediate, Co-Ed Senior, Girls Intermediate, and Girls Senior, with play formats that include both pass/run and pass-only 7v7 leagues.

• Ages: 6–13 years old
• Schedule: Season runs from late July to late September, with practices beginning in late July or early August and games typically on weekend mornings, plus occasional weeknight games. For 2026, the season runs from 07/27/2026 to 09/27/2026.
• Price: $125 per registration for each division

Lincoln-Way Youth Flag Football teaches the fundamentals of football in a safe, non-contact, age-appropriate environment. The program emphasizes proper technique, sportsmanship, and reduced contact while providing a competitive game experience. Age placement is determined as of September 1 of the current year, with Co-Ed Pee Wee for ages 6–8, Co-Ed Intermediate for ages 9–10, Co-Ed Senior for ages 11–13, Girls Intermediate for ages 8–10, and Girls Senior for ages 11–13. All players ages 6–8 participate in Co-Ed Pee Wee, and beginning at age 8 (DOB 9/2/17–9/1/18), girls may choose either Co-Ed Pee Wee or Girls Intermediate, with girls-only divisions offered provided minimum roster numbers are met; if not, players are placed into the appropriate co-ed division.

All eligible players are placed into a league-run draft held in late July to balance teams. The Co-Ed Pee Wee division is a 7v7 pass/run league, the Co-Ed Intermediate and Co-Ed Senior divisions are 7v7 pass-only leagues where every player is an eligible receiver, and the Girls Intermediate and Girls Senior divisions are 7v7 pass/run leagues. All teams participate in a single-elimination end-of-season Flag Bowl tournament, all players receive a commemorative award, and championship teams receive rings.

Each player receives a personalized game jersey with last name and number, a personalized practice shirt with last name, and a flag belt set. Players must wear gym shoes or molded cleats, metal spikes are not permitted, and soft helmets are optional. Parents are asked to confirm the correct spelling of the child’s last name at registration.
