Chicago Swim School

Chicago Swim School offers StarBaby for children ages 4 months to 3 years old, with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. The school also offers White, Red, Pink, Yellow, Aqua, Blue, Green, Purple, Silver, Black, and Adult levels, with activities that include basic swimming and water safety, submerging, floating on the front and back, rollover floating, swimming on the stomach, side kicking, and freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke practice.

Programs

• StarBaby — 4 months to 3 years old · Beginner level introduces parents and students to the basics of swimming and water safety. There are 3 StarBaby levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
• White — Beginner level for a student who is a beginner, probably a little nervous, and has little swimming experience.
• Red — Student can submerge by themselves, with ease, for 5-10 seconds.
• Pink — Student can float, with ease, on their front and back for 5-10 seconds.
• Yellow — Student can rollover and float independently 5-10 seconds.
• Aqua — Student can swim, with ease, on their stomach at least 20 feet.
• Blue — Student can independently side kick on both sides with an efficient kick.
• Green — Student can swim Single-Switch Freestyle and Backstroke at least 40ft with efficient technique.
• Purple — Student can swim Freestyle and Backstroke, with good technique, for at least 60 feet.
• Silver — Student can swim Freestyle and Backstroke for at least 50 yards and has proper stroke coordination for Butterfly and Breaststroke.
• Black — Student can swim Freestyle and Backstroke for 75 yards, and Butterfly and Breaststroke for at least 25 yards.
• Adult — adults · Supportive, personalized environment to help build confidence in the water, improve technique, and reach swimming goals.

At a glance

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• General schedule: Perpetual, year-round swim enrollment. Billing is monthly and based on enrollment, not attendance. Lessons begin immediately upon registration and the child’s weekly spot is reserved until a withdrawal form is submitted. StarBaby has 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Upon completion of Beginner skills, students move to StarBaby Intermediate. Upon completion of Intermediate skills and reaching at least 24 months, students move to StarBaby Advanced. Upon completion of StarBaby Advanced, students may move into independent group lessons at the White, Red or Pink level.

About the provider

Chicago Swim School first opened in 2005 in an apartment complex pool in Arlington Heights. In 2012, it moved to its current location on Northwest Highway, and by 2016 expanded to Mokena. Its mission is to help children of all ages build confidence, skill, and a lifelong love of the water, and to build trust and inspire confidence through progress and achievement.
