Illinois Basketball Academy states that its mission is to maximize a child’s potential to achieve success in life, impart values learned through sports, develop and improve discipline, work ethic, leadership, and teamwork, and create an atmosphere in which children can express themselves comfortably. The mission also includes encouraging children to perform at their optimal ability, promoting sportsmanship, self-evaluation, and humility, reinforcing the importance of academic excellence, making tutorial sessions available to children who struggle academically, elevating children’s minds while promoting fitness and athleticism, and building self-esteem and character. Programs are based on the principle of providing a positive and educational environment with the goal of helping each player become skilled in the fundamentals, be part of a competitive team, and have fun playing basketball.

Illinois Basketball Academy is home of the Illinois Stars and offers competitive basketball teams and instruction for boys and girls in grades K–12. It has locations across the central northern Chicagoland area of Illinois and runs seasonal camps and/or year-round programs in Oakbrook, Rockford, West Dundee, and more. Each camper receives a T-shirt. One participant, Anthony, a junior at Marmion Academy, states that IBA has helped him elevate his character and hone his focus to meet mental and physical challenges.
