Naperville Art League Kids Classes is part of the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery/Naperville Art League, a non-profit organization founded in 1961 under the leadership of Hayman Herndon. The organization states that it was created to support and sustain development and diversity of all forms of art through art instruction, programs, workshops, and exhibits, and that it dedicates itself to providing art education and raising awareness and appreciation of the arts for the cultural enhancement of the community. The Fine Art Center and Gallery annually serves over 200 Naperville Art League members and approximately 500 students of diverse backgrounds, from preschoolers through seniors. The organization is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization sponsored by membership, and membership is open to artists, students, and people who enjoy and appreciate the arts; members are encouraged to support at least one Naperville Art League activity during the year. The organization states that it does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.

The Naperville Art League is led by a board that includes President Sally Sharp; Director of Exhibits Rose Calkins; Director of Education Lynne Kornecki; Director of Development Beata Nowak; Director of Marketing & Communication Jeri Davis; Director of Member Services Jennifer Hauser; Director of Programs & Hospitality Olivia Warro; Director of Building & Grounds Dan McCullough; Treasurer Linda Vander Kolk; Board Member at Large and Riverwalk Fine Art Fair Executive Director Debbie Venezia; and an open Secretary position.

In the community, the Naperville Art League hosts monthly themed art shows featuring original artwork created by members, with all pieces for sale, and each show attempts to represent current local events, stylistic artistic elements, and traditions of fine art representation while giving local artists a forum to exhibit their work. In 1984, the organization commissioned a 15-foot-high red sculpture on the city’s Riverwalk titled “Landforms,” created by artist Jack Arnold, and it supports the Century Walk public art project; in 2009, the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery became part of the Century Walk with the “World’s Greatest Artist” mural designed by Mike Venezia and painted by Marianne Lisson Kuhn. The Naperville Art League founded and hosts the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair, an outdoor art fair held on the third weekend of every September that draws thousands of festival goers to downtown Naperville and engages the corporate community through sponsorship opportunities; this fair has earned a reputation as one of the top outdoor art fairs in the country. The organization also provides a referral service for community residents seeking to commission original art by league members and refers artists to do demonstrations or art instruction outside of regular classes.
