About

Summer Camps includes Nature On The Farm Camps and Farm Camp, where campers explore native prairie, woodland, and pond habitats, learn about growing garden-fresh foods at the Green Earth Harvest organic farm, and take part in creative projects and imaginative play. Camp days include science explorations, conservation activities, nature exploration, gardening, farm activities, heritage crafts, and other hands-on learning opportunities. A themed, nut-free healthy snack is provided each day, and each week has a unique theme with activities in conservation, nature exploration, and gardening.

• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Half-day Nature On The Farm Camps and Monday–Friday Farm Camp sessions

Summer Camps offers Early Elementary Camps for children entering 1st–3rd grades and Late Elementary Camps for children entering 4th–6th grades. Nature On The Farm Camps at McDonald Farm run Monday–Friday from 9:00am–12:00pm, and Farm Camp at Dickson-Murst Farm runs Monday–Friday from 8:30am–12:30pm. Farm Camp focuses on where food comes from, how farmers shape the land, and includes learning about the history of life on the farm and the future of farming. Educators from The Conservation Foundation lead the camps and are joined at Farm Camp by volunteers from the Dickson-Murst Farm Partners and Kendall County Ag in the Classroom. Scholarships are available so everyone can have access to programs regardless of ability to pay the full fee, and the cancellation policy allows refunds if canceled no later than 14 days before the first day of camp, minus a processing fee.

The Conservation Foundation was founded in 1972 and has been active for more than 50 years. Its mission is to improve the health of communities by preserving and restoring open space and natural lands, protecting rivers and watersheds, and promoting stewardship of the environment in northeastern Illinois. Support from more than 5,000 members and 500 volunteers helps The Conservation Foundation carry out this mission. The Conservation Foundation has been designated as a charitable organization through the Internal Revenue Service.
