Wildcat Cross Country and Track & Field Club offers training in Cross Country and Track and Field. The club includes runners with a wide range of experience, from national-caliber athletes to beginning runners.
In 2004, coaches from Neuqua Valley High School and Scullen Middle School formed Wildcat Cross Country and Track & Field Club. The club is led by Mike Kennedy, Wildcat XCTF President, and James Janota, Wildcat XCTF Business Manager. The coaching staff is described as a group of extremely dedicated coaches with over 100 combined years of service in the sports of Cross Country and Track & Field. The club is an official USATF Youth Cross Country and Track & Field team.
The mission of Wildcat Cross Country and Track & Field Club is to assist student-athletes in their pursuit of knowledge and skill advancement in Cross Country and Track and Field. The club was formed in order to help young runners develop healthy fitness habits and a lifelong love for running. Coaches work with each athlete, no matter how much talent or experience he or she possesses, to set challenging, meaningful goals and work towards improving.
The club serves the surrounding Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield, and Oswego areas, and it includes runners from Naperville, Aurora, Oswego, Plainfield, and other local areas.
Parent feedback about the program includes comments that the camp changed a child’s life in many ways and that coach Mike Kennedy encouraged and inspired that runner. Another parent noted that a younger camper was sincerely welcomed and that they were impressed with the coaching and feedback. A third parent shared that the camp was a way for their child, who plays basketball in winter and runs track in spring, to keep up physical strength and improve overall endurance when not playing football.
