Wildcat Cross Country and Track & Field Club offers a range of running and track and field activities, including Boys' Cross Country Camp, Girls' Cross Country Camp, Co-Ed Youth Cross Country Camp, Co-Ed Youth Track and Field Camp, Co-Ed Track and Field Camp, and a Co-Ed Throws Camp. The program also includes the Ray Vandersteen All-Comers Track Meet. Track Summer Camps run Monday through Thursday for four weeks, and Cross Country Summer Camps do not meet during the week of Monday, June 29 through Sunday, July 5.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps run in four-week sessions, with track camps meeting Monday–Thursday and cross country camps meeting on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between early June and mid-July.
• Price: The registration fee for all Summer Camps is $250, with no pro-rated fees.
The club was formed in 2004 by coaches from Neuqua Valley High School and Scullen Middle School. The organization states it has coaches with over 100 combined years of service in the sports of cross country and track and field. The Wildcat Cross Country and Track & Field Club is an official USATF Youth Cross Country and Track & Field team and includes athletes ranging from national-caliber athletes to beginning runners. The club serves the surrounding Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield, and Oswego areas and includes runners from these and other local communities. The leadership team includes Mike Kennedy, Wildcat XCTF President, and James Janota, Wildcat XCTF Business Manager.
According to the club’s mission statement, it is dedicated to assisting student-athletes in their pursuit of knowledge and skill advancement in cross country and track and field, working with each athlete, regardless of talent or experience, to set challenging, meaningful goals and work toward improving. One parent testimonial states that the camp changed their son’s life in many ways and describes coach Mr. Kennedy as encouraging and inspiring. Another parent reports that their younger camper was sincerely welcomed and that they were impressed with the coaching and feedback. A third parent notes that the camp provided an opportunity for their son, who plays basketball in winter and runs track in spring, to maintain physical strength and improve overall endurance.
