Bloomington Knockers Youth Football and Cheer was founded in 1957 and has over 60 years of supporting young athletes as the longest running youth football program in Central Illinois. The program is led by Brian Segobiano and Nick Cottone. Its mission states a focus on teamwork, hard work, diversity, fun, strong fundamentals, personal growth, strong character, and “we not me” attitudes, with an emphasis on providing all athletes the opportunity to compete and as much playing time as possible. The program describes its coaches as positive role models and its fans as supportive, and it states that it actively works to reflect the diversity of Bloomington/Normal. It is run in partnership with the Bloomington-Normal YMCA and describes itself as deeply embedded in the local community, with volunteer opportunities for concessions, locker room, set up, and more. Athletes participate on five separate tackle football levels based on age, and flag football is offered in partnership with the Bloomington-Normal YMCA. Gold helmets represent the leadership of the program at the varsity level, and an online store is available for Knocker apparel. Fall 2025 registration for flag football is available through 6th grade, and the program can be contacted by email at [email protected].
