About
Red Oak Nature Camps offers outdoor adventures that include hiking, games, crafts, using tools, exploration, and stories. Campers take part in hands-on exploration, create simple crafts, listen to stories, tell campfire stories, look at the constellations, and roast a marshmallow or two. Activities also include sports, special event days, hands-on indoor activities, animal exhibits, and using different forms of media such as clay, dyes, paint, mud, fabric, and other natural materials.

Camp options at Red Oak Nature Camps include Sprouts for ages 2–3, Lil Acorns for ages 3–4, Nature Nuts Camp for ages 5–7, Red Oak Adventurers Camp for ages 8–10, Red Oak Legends for ages 11–13, Wild Nights for ages 9–12, Wild Artists for ages 8–11, and Blast Camp at The Wilds for ages 6–11, with two of these camps having overnight components. The program offers nature-themed extended-day camps, original programs with weekly themes, and a variety of camps throughout the summer for kids ages 2–13. Additional offerings connected to Red Oak include hands-on indoor activities at the nature center, Nature Play Preschool, school, scout and group outings, special events such as Frosty Fest, Maple Fest, and Rusty Rodeo, birthday parties and room rentals, and an “Art Nook” hidden in the woods decorated by campers’ art. Camp staff are experienced, CPR/First Aid–certified educators. The mission of Fox Valley Park District at Red Oak is to offer many ways to have fun, learn more and be active and creative, as well as enjoy new experiences, and to connect participants with the joys, lessons, and wonders of nature.
