Panthers is a competitive tackle football and cheer organization, open to athletes who live in Downers Grove and surrounding areas, and is a travel league with opponents in the western suburbs. Tackle football players must be between 7–14 years old by August 1 of the current year, flag football players must be between 5–7 years old by August 1 of the current year, and cheerleaders must be between 5–14 years old by August 1 of the current year. For safety concerns, any 7-year-old that weighs over 70 lbs will not be eligible to play flag football but is welcome to join the 8U tackle football team. All tackle football players are placed on a team based on age, weight, and ability after the first week of practice, and cheerleaders are assigned to a cheer squad based on age. Camp is open to all incoming Kindergarten through 8th grade athletes for the 2026 season, and registration for the fall Panther football season is not required to participate in camp. Athletes are encouraged to attend both camp sessions prior to the season to strengthen their skills, learn new techniques, and head into the season prepared and ready to compete. Registered participants will receive a camp shirt and food on the last day of camp, and athletes must be registered by March 10th to be guaranteed a camp shirt. There are no refunds for camp for any reason, including injury or illness.

For over 60 years, the organization has provided a structured, safe and secure environment for young athletes to learn life skills both on and off the field, and the 64th season of Panther Football & Cheer is now underway. The Panthers focus on developing the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, through teamwork and sportsmanship. Panther Football & Cheer is a proud affiliate of the Downers Grove Park District and is a member of the Bill George Youth Football League (BGYFL).
