FieldCrest School of Performing Arts was established in 1977 and is described as a safe and beautiful environment with two fully equipped studios that serve performing arts, rehearsal space, casting, and auditioning needs. The program is led by Founder Donna Davenport, President Keli Wells, and Creative Director Liza Brown; FieldCrest is comprised of 16 highly trained artist-in-residences, and Donna Davenport holds a B.A. in Education. FieldCrest states its mission as creating and developing new and enriching productions and offering children an understanding of the value of their existence by using fine arts to provide a cultural education, and it is widely referred to as “the place where it all happens.” FieldCrest’s history includes being one of the first performing arts groups to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1999, receiving the Disney Award for exceptional performances at Walt Disney World in Florida in 2017, and being invited by Carnival Cruise Lines in 2017 for students to perform for “Festivals at Sea” onboard the M.S. Fascination to the Bahamas; Donna Davenport is listed in the national register “Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals.”

Over the years, The Children’s Dance Theater Chicago connected to this community has partnered with The Children’s Museum, Lucent Technologies, Bank One, and the Chicago Historical Society. The Southland Scholarship Foundation associated with this community has provided $20,000 in scholarships since 2000 to high school seniors pursuing degrees in the fine arts from schools including Rich Central High School, Homewood Flossmoor High School, and Rich South High School, and its Men of Tomorrow Mentoring Program was established in 2012.

Parent comments about FieldCrest include that it is a “great school and staff” and that children “love” their classes and look forward to going each week, with several parents noting that they find the classes affordable and that they recommend FieldCrest for the performing arts.
