Quincy Community Theatre’s mission is to offer and perpetuate quality theatre entertainment and education through community participation. Its education program is dedicated to providing innovative arts education instruction, high-quality student production work, and mentorship opportunities for the community’s emerging theatre artists. The education program is open to students of all ages, and no prior theatre experience is required unless specified in the class description. Students of all ages can enroll in programs, knowing that they will be treated with respect and will exit as confident, disciplined, and respectful individuals. QCT believes theatre education opportunities should be available to all students in the area and offers three different scholarships to support this. A full-time, professional staff is employed to keep the quality of the work at its highest, and the theatre is looked upon as a safe haven.

QCT Improv Club meets on the final Friday of the month from 8:00–9:00 pm and is for adults 18 and up. No experience, materials, or registration are necessary for Improv Club; participants just show up ready to try something new. The ACT II Players is a group of adults 18+ who share a passion for reader’s theatre and perform at local senior care facilities. Quincy Community Theatre inspires over 25,000 members of the community each year.

Quincy Community Theatre has been presenting musicals, mysteries, comedies, and dramas since 1923. The Little Theatre was formally organized in 1928, paused during WWII, and resumed productions in 1953 as an outdoor summer theatre. The theatre found its first permanent home in 1964, hired its first full-time managing director in 1973, and later moved into a new Civic Center/Theatre complex that was completed in the spring of 1995. The 498-seat theatre was dedicated on September 8, 1995, with an inaugural performance titled “Memories-A Musical Revue.”
