About

Wheaton Drama Youth Workshops offer Performance Theatre and Technical Theatre sessions where participants take part in full scale rehearsals, training and rehearsals with a director and cast, and learn stage managing and backstage crew work. Activities include sound design, costume design, lighting design, choreography, and music, and the staff audition and cast all of the participants for shows such as Beetlejuice Jr. and Olympus: The Greek Rock Musical. In the Summer Teen Workshop Production, students may elect to participate as performers or as technical crew helping to run the performance, learning an entire show in just a week and bringing it to life in the theatre.

• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer sessions in 2026 include weeklong Performance Theatre and Technical Theatre options in late June and July, with full-day schedules such as 9:00 am–3:00 pm or 9:00 am–4:30 pm, plus Saturday performances and a separate Summer Teen Workshop Production across several dates.
• Price: Tuition $300 for 1st–4th grades, $375 for 5th–12th grades for Technical Theatre and Performance Theatre, $300 per student for the Summer Teen Workshop Production, and $10 per ticket for Saturday performances.

Full day sessions that run from 9:00 am–3:00 pm or 9:00 am–4:30 pm require students to bring a sack lunch. All staff members are certified teachers and have gone through an extensive background check. Wheaton Drama has been at play since 1931 and states that it exists to create a more engaged community and lasting friendships by sharing its passion for quality theatre. The organization runs an annual Summer Children’s Workshop, offers a yearly scholarship to a high school senior who plans to major in Performing Arts, provides preview performances to area Veteran, Senior, and Assisted Living facilities, appears at local events such as the Taste of Wheaton and the Fourth of July Parade, and is part of a network of local community theatres who support each other. Registration for each class will be open on or before April 1, 2026, class sizes are limited, and if there are not enough students enrolled a class may be canceled with all money refunded, with cancellation decisions made the Friday before the class starts and communicated to families.
