Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids Program is part of Indianapolis Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, LLC, which has over 36 years of experience in Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The program follows a mission of offering structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training for kids, adults, and women focused on real world self-defense and long term skill development. The academy teaches techniques, skills, and strategies that the Gracie family had been teaching and using in Brazil for over 80 years and first brought to America in the late 1980s. The owner and head instructor is Professor Greg Eldred, a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The academy states that it is Indy's first and oldest operating Jiu-Jitsu academy and that it accepts new students in all programs. Instruction is provided by highly trained and qualified instructors, including four black belts, in a professional training environment that emphasizes effective techniques for self-defense, preparation for street or self-defense situations rather than only sport or tournament competitions, and does not make competition mandatory or push students into sport competition. The program promotes good health, athleticism, self control, and discipline, and emphasizes Jiu-Jitsu as a way of life that includes respecting others, growing relationships, and taking care of one another and families, in what it describes as a safe and non threatening environment.
