The program also includes homeschooling activities, teaching, and making friends with trees, flowers, and birds.

• Ages: 0–10 years old
• Schedule: Options on Monday evenings, Tuesday mornings, Friday mornings, and Saturday mornings, plus mixed-ages classes on Monday mornings

Nature Explorers Club has a mission to connect, inspire, and empower families with knowledge and appreciation of their natural world. The program includes a babies group called Nature Babies and offers mixed-ages classes. Nature Explorers Club operates in multiple Indiana communities through local leaders and Facebook groups.

The leadership team includes Breanna and Maranda as class leaders in Columbus, Andrea as the babies class leader in Columbus, Bre as a class leader in Greenwood, Martinsville, and Trafalgar, Angela as a class leader in Carmel, Laura as a class leader in Zionsville, Whitley as a class leader in Brown County, Morgan as a class leader in Bloomington, and Audrey and Courtney as class leaders in Indianapolis. This is not a drop-and-go class; parents are encouraged to engage as well.

Breanna has a background in education. Maranda was an elementary school teacher at a school in Indianapolis, earned a degree in environmental science/ecology, and led environmental education programs for people of all ages at a national wildlife refuge. Andrea has participated in and led other outdoor education classes. Whitley has a background in early childhood education. Laura studied environmental science as an undergraduate and environmental engineering in graduate school, is working towards becoming a certified Indiana Master Naturalist, and has been involved with the Indiana Native Plant Society over the past decade. Laura has also volunteered with Women in Engineering to teach programs for elementary students.

Free Forest School is an organization that promotes unstructured, child-led outdoor play by hosting regular meetups across the country, and there are Facebook groups connected to Nature Explorers Club for Bloomington, Brown County, Carmel, Columbus, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Madison, Trafalgar, and Zionsville.

Parents have shared that Nature Explorers Club has become the highlight of their week and that their children get excited to share what they learned, including at 2 years old. One parent described the class as allowing the wonder of nature to inspire all ages and noted that the freedom built into the class lets children find what interests them most, with lessons that continue at home. Another parent said the club has been a weekly plan for their family, with their child enjoying time with other kids and families and experiencing curiosity and enthusiasm in nature, and described Breanna as a fun, brilliant, and resourceful guide. A parent also shared that the club feels like a balance of structure and exploration that keeps their child engaged and that they enjoy building friendships and connections with other families.
