At PGC Basketball Camps, training covers skills, habits, and a winning mindset needed to make plays, score baskets, and lead a team, along with the 6 ingredients of championship performance. Players receive training on reads, footwork, and finishing moves to score in game situations, and on how to see the floor, run a team, make decisions, and impact winning. Point Guard Prep is an entry-level course for younger players in 4th–7th grade, and the structured 3-Camp Curriculum of Playmaker College, Scoring College, and Point Guard College is designed to be completed in sequence, with PGC Grad School as the highest-level program for PGC Grads. The SCHAPE values (Spirit, Communication, Hustle, Approach, Precision, Enhance) are the foundation for everything the program does, and PGC is only for dedicated players who are serious about getting better.
Over the past 34 plus years, more than 155,000 players and 11,500 coaches have attended a PGC camp, and over 20,000 players from middle school to college attend a PGC camp each year. PGC offers over 200 camps across North America in the summer and fall and has provided more than $2.5 million in financial assistance to players, along with contributing to initiatives locally and globally. The program’s leadership includes PGC President Mano Watsa and founder Dick DeVenzio.
PGC states its mission as inspiring and equipping every player and coach everywhere, including helping players unlock their potential, discover how to be a leader on and off the court, and use the game to propel themselves to success in life. Coach John Wooden, named Coach of the Century by ESPN and winner of 10 NCAA Championships, endorsed Point Guard College and said it will greatly improve the play of any aspiring player. Other testimonials include Jeremy Lin, a 9-year NBA veteran, who said he loves that Point Guard College teaches players to think the game, Billy Lange, an NBA assistant coach with the New York Knicks, who said he was blown away by the level of teaching his son received, and Greg Brittenham, former New York Knicks assistant coach, who recommended making all possible summer camps Point Guard College. Families can also access a free 1-minute test to find out if PGC is right for a player and can download a 2026 PGC Basketball Camp brochure that includes a free book.
