Roots’ School of Theatre offers a variety of classes and productions for children hungry for a stage to perform on and a place to sharpen their acting skills. The program also offers private voice lessons in addition to its classes and productions.

Roots’ School of Theatre is led by owners Mindy Root and Brad Root, along with instructor and choreographer Darby Hayes. Mindy Root received her BM in Vocal Performance from Ball State University in 2012 and teaches private voice lessons. Brad Root received his BFA in Acting from Ball State University in 2013 and serves as Director for the 3–8 Grade Musical and the Teen Musical. Darby Hayes received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from DePauw University in 2019, teaches private voice, and is the choreographer for the 3–8 Grade Musical and the Teen Musical.
Mindy has been an instructor for the Barn RATS summer theater program at Mud Creek Theater for the past seven years, and Brad started working as an instructor for the summer theatre program at Mud Creek Theater; for the next eight summers, Brad and Mindy continued to run and expand that program. Since moving back to Indiana, Brad appeared in Mud Creek Player’s production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile and originated the role of Fred in Jeremy Grimmer’s play Adults through Fat Turtle Theatre Company. Mindy has also been a featured soloist with the White River Wind Symphony. Darby worked at the Catered Cabaret in Greenwood performing as a lead in several of their shows and is currently the Extracurricular Choral Assistant at Westfield High School. The program offers an email list subscription and has a Studio Tuition/Fees section on its site.
