Emmanuel Church Summer Camps are connected to the Family Ministries of Emmanuel Church, which exists to see kids and students come to Christ and grow in Christ. Family Ministries believes parents or guardians are the primary spiritual influence in a child’s life and strives to partner with parents to help equip and empower the next generation.
The church behind Emmanuel Church Summer Camps was established in 1977 and opened its doors on Easter 1977 with 17 people after beginning in the living room of Darrel and Pauline Towles in Whiteland, Indiana. Founding Pastor Jim Devney retired in 2006 after 29 years of service, and Danny Anderson, then High School Pastor, became Lead Pastor. The current leadership team includes Danny Anderson as Lead Pastor; Kyle Thompson as Executive Pastor; Kelsey Thompson as Executive Director; and Allison Gearries as Executive Pastor. Emmanuel Church has grown into a multi-site church with Banta (2013), Franklin (2015), Online (2018), Garfield Park (2019), Seymour (2022), Martinsville (2023), Greenwood East (2024), and Columbus (2025) locations. The church states that it exists to spread hope throughout families, communities, and the world and is dedicated to spreading hope across the community and the world.
