Franklin Swim School states that its primary goal is to teach water safety to as many children as possible and that it is eager to share a love for the water through safe and effective instruction. The program describes a progression that starts with back floating so a child who unexpectedly finds themself in water can float on their back until help arrives, then moves into learning to move efficiently through the water. The swim school is led by coaches and assisted by athletes from the local Franklin Regional Swim Team, who bring experience with many levels of swimming and water-based activities.
Families have shared testimonials describing experiences with instructors including Maddie, Quinn, Faith, Madeline, and Paul, mentioning private lessons, work with autistic children, older adults, and very young swimmers, as well as flexible scheduling for private lessons. Several parents and caregivers report that their children or grandchildren became more comfortable in the water, learned water safety skills, or participated in swim meets, and some describe the program as worth the cost and one they would highly recommend. Franklin Community Middle School’s pool is also used by Franklin College's Varsity Swim Team and the Middle School Swim Team.
