Le Rose Dance Academy was established in the fall of 1995, and the name was changed to Le Rose Dance Academy with a move to a new building on Commerce Drive in 1998. Director Amanda Purlee Nixon purchased the studio from her lifelong dance teacher, Verna Purdy Cross, and continues to teach dancers age 2–Adult. Verna owned her studio, Verna's School of Dance, for over 30 years and taught Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Hula, Belly Dancing, and Floor Gymnastics to dancers age 3–Adult. The studio’s history includes prior locations such as a remodeled auto garage on Hamilton Avenue and the Historic Wigwam Mineola Tribe building in downtown Franklin, which had over 6,000 square feet, a full-size gymnastics facility, and three dance rooms.

The mission of Le Rose Dance Academy is to provide a positive and caring environment for all dancers, with staff striving to build relationships with dancers and share knowledge of all styles of dance. The program states that dancers are encouraged to grow technically and artistically, and that safety for dancers, families, and staff is a top priority, supported by policies and a contingency plan regarding public health. All staff have relevant teaching qualifications, receive mentoring and supervision, and participate in regular professional development and training.

Verna’s choreography earned numerous regional and national awards, and she continued to teach and receive several honors and awards. Amanda continues to teach dancers age 2–Adult and has followed in Verna’s footsteps by winning several choreography, regional, and national awards.

Le Rose Dance Academy offers a sibling discount in which the student with the most dance instruction time pays normal tuition and 10% is taken off the other student’s total, with stated exclusions. Military, Police, Fire, and College students, as well as Franklin Chamber of Commerce members, are eligible for a 10% service discount off their monthly total. The program notes that its environment helps kids stay busy and boosts emotional engagement, social connections, and sense of self-worth. This year’s sponsor is Winter’s Heating & Cooling, a local family-owned business that offers the 10% service discount to those groups.
