British Swim School was founded in Manchester, England in 1981 by Rita Goldberg. The program was founded in 1981 and expanded to North America in 1991, and its instructional program has been the preferred choice for over 40 years. The mission of British Swim School is to be the premier learn-to-swim provider for people of all ages, offering programs for children ages 3-months to adults, using gentle teaching methods and a survival-first approach for people of all experience levels. The program offers a survival-based learn-to-swim program with nearly 40 years of experience behind its teaching methodologies, using gentle, fun methods such as a structured program of songs, games, and fun for toddler lessons, and a controlled, parent-led introduction to swimming for toddlers. Parent-assisted water acclimation classes are available as early as 3 months, enrollment is available year-round, and lessons are offered in fitness centers, hotels, and community pools across the U.S. and Canada, with over 450 locations. Classes are offered in small group sizes of 4–6 swimmers with highly-trained instructors, and the program is goal-oriented so swimmers progress at their own pace, with year-round enrollment for uninterrupted progress.

British Swim School welcomes families from Avon, Brownsburg, Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Plainfield, and Zionsville for toddler swimming lessons in the Indianapolis area.

Parents describe the staff as very friendly and connected to their children, interested in family goals, and using child-friendly approaches for building comfort in the water, with one parent noting that their child is making great progress. Families report that they tried other swim schools but did not find anything that compares to the experience and results they have seen at British Swim School. Parents mention that small group sizes give their children real attention and that every lesson feels safe, welcoming, and focused on building skills. Several parents describe the instructors as engaging, gentle, and focused on safety, and say their families look forward to every lesson. One parent reports that their child learned real water safety skills and developed a love for swimming, and another notes that their boys are gaining confidence in the water while having fun each week. A family from Pomona Valley, CA shares that their son, wife, and the parent all learned to swim and are now completely comfortable in the water, and another parent says the program has helped their son build water confidence in a safe, supportive environment with excellent instruction.
