Camps at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites

Camps at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites are part of the museum’s hands-on education programs, which are listed under “Things to Do” and “Programs and Education.” The camps take place within a larger system that includes three floors of galleries and exhibits exploring Indiana’s art, science, culture and innovation, from Ice Age fossils to future-focused ideas.

The camps are organized within a statewide museum and historic site system that includes 11 historic sites sharing stories of the Underground Railroad, renowned artists, mansions and Native American earthworks, and that holds more than 500,000 objects related to the human experience, the natural world and the Hoosier spirit. The program has a designated Camp Program Manager, Marissa Subar, and is part of an education and engagement team that includes Bethany Thomas, VP of Education and Engagement, and Dru Sherfick, Senior Early Childhood Program Manager. The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites states its mission as “We ignite wonder, inspire curiosity, reveal stories and create connections,” and describes itself as rooted throughout Indiana to serve Hoosiers but made for everyone.
