About

Indianapolis Spanish Place - Children's Spanish Classes and Summer Children's Programs offers children's classes, Saturday children's classes, children's private classes, and summer children's programs in a 100% immersion setting. Programming for children is available either at the Indianapolis Spanish Place location or through Spanish classes at the child’s school and other area schools. Classes use activity-based, age-appropriate activities and focus on conversational Spanish, understanding, and speaking Spanish in Spanish.

• Price: Group classes are $16 per hour.

Classes are taught by experienced, native instructors who are 100% fluent Spanish speakers, using a carefully planned curriculum in small class settings. The program is led by directors Diana Mosquera (Colombia) and Marcela Salgar. Indianapolis Spanish Place is part of a Midwest business that started with Ohio locations in Cincinnati in 2004, Cleveland in 2011, and Columbus in 2017. The mission of the organization is to serve English- and Spanish-speakers with products and services that offer educational, linguistic, cultural, social, and communication benefits through Spanish instruction, translation, ESL instruction, interpretation, social networking, study abroad, and print, broadcast, and online publishing, and to bring people together while encouraging tolerance, understanding, and exploration of new languages, cultures, and ideas. The program partners with local schools and preschools to provide Spanish classes and other programming for children through area schools.

Parent and teacher feedback notes small classes, interactive and fun instruction, and children speaking Spanish words at home. One parent reports that her daughter learned a lot after just one class and that the class kept the attention of all of the children. Another parent reports that her son, who initially disliked the idea of Spanish class, began looking forward to class days and came home after each class with new words to share. A preschool teacher describes the children talking about their Spanish teacher all week, being fully attentive during class, and parents noticing their children speaking Spanish at home.
