Jeanie Gensheimer Martial Arts offers Shorei Goju Ryu Karate for children, adults, and families. The program includes karate classes, weapons training with Bo, Eku, Chucks, Kama, Tonfa, and Sai, and karate and gymnastics summer camps. Karate classes are open to both adults and children ages 6 and up, and every student starts as a beginner with a white belt and then works through the belt ranks. Families are allowed and encouraged to train together.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes are offered three times a week with options on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and students may choose how many days they attend.
Classes meet at The Riviera Club on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with separate time blocks for white through blue belts, blue through black belts, and black belts. Important dates include a Black Belt Walk Through on November 15, a Black Belt Promotion on November 21, and a Black Belt Extravaganza on December 12. Weapons training follows a rotation throughout the year, with Bo and Eku in January/February and July/August, Chucks and Kama in March/April and September/October, and Tonfa and Sai in May/June and November/December. Summer camps include karate and gymnastics camps held at The Orchard School, The Sycamore School, Park Tudor, and the Riviera Club. The program also teaches karate classes at Indianapolis area public and private schools. The stated mission is that classes are designed to help students develop their skills and confidence, and to achieve their personal goals.
