Kids Dance Outreach offers dance programs that include high-quality dance and arts education, with all classes accompanied by live piano and percussion music. The program includes KDO In-School Programs, KDO Advanced Scholarship Programs, Summer Programs, and Dancers with Disabilities Programs, as well as public performances. Kids Dance Outreach also provides interactive workshops with theme-driven content and specific program curriculum design.

All Kids Dance Outreach classes are taught by a team of highly trained Teaching Artists and Musicians. The organization’s mission is to positively impact the lives of all children through joyful dance programs that inspire excellence, instill confidence, encourage teamwork, and applaud persistence. In 2012, Kids Dance Outreach (KDO) was founded, and more than 2,000 children now participate each year, with more than 24,000 children having experienced its dance programs to date.
KDO In-School Programs reach elementary-age children in public and charter schools throughout Marion County, and community engagement and partnerships are described as a vital part of its work. KDO receives inquiries from school administrators, parents, and community organizations and works individually with each to design programming that fits their needs. All KDO programs are inclusive for children with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities, and the Dancers with Disabilities Programs are specifically designed for children with disabilities to learn and grow in a safe and joyful environment. KDO utilizes unique and accessible movement vocabulary to promote structure, discipline, focus, empathy, and self-confidence, with a methodology that focuses on cultivating acceptance, celebrating uniqueness, encouraging each child to succeed, and building community.
In 2018, Kids Dance Outreach became the Indiana Associate of the National Dance Institute of New York (ANDI), making it the sole program in Indiana and one of about a dozen in the country with this association. The Associate Director of Community Engagement and Programming is Dana Vanderburgh.
