Metropolitan Youth Ballet of Indiana offers Ballet Technique, Pre-Pointe, Pointe, Strength & Conditioning, Variations, Pas de Deux, Character, Boys Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Improvisation, and Toddler & Me. Ballet Technique focuses on proper alignment and posture, musicality and coordination, strength, flexibility, endurance, clarity of movement, classical line, artistry, and expressive quality. Other classes include pointe preparation, partnering, world dances adapted for theater, and leveled boys’ ballet classes.

Programs

  • Ballet Technique — Preschool through pre-professional and adult; levels Pre-Primary to 6B · Focuses on proper alignment and posture, musicality and coordination, strength, flexibility, endurance, clarity of movement, classical line, artistry, and expressive quality.
  • Pre-Pointe — Serious ballet students · Weekly or bi-weekly, usually after the student’s ballet class · Pointe preparation class; initially taken barefoot and later in pre-pointe shoes at instructor discretion.
  • Pointe — Dancers who have mastered pre-pointe and developed the necessary strength and control · Usually after the student’s ballet class · Early pointe classes are done with barre support; center work is introduced very gradually.
  • Strength & Conditioning — All Level 2B-6B dancers who wish to participate in MYB company productions; Day Program dancers receive this as part of their schedule · Designed to enhance core strength, flexibility, and overall conditioning.
  • Variations — Upper/Pre-Professional Division pointe students with a strong technical foundation · Teaches stamina, spacing, stage presence, and exposure to technical styles, stories, and steps.
  • Pas de Deux — Level 4A-6B dancers · Offered by invitation of the Artistic Staff; focuses on partnering, support, balance, coordination, lifting, and trust.
  • Character — Uses music and dances from all over the world adapted for theater; helps develop musicality, stage presence, and expressiveness.
  • Boys Ballet — Boys may register for leveled classes; when they reach a certain level, they may be recommended to join this class.

  • Ages: 3–18 years old
  • General schedule: Classes are offered for all ages and levels, from preschool through pre-professional and adult. The dance year is divided into two semesters: August-December and January-May.

About the provider

Metropolitan Youth Ballet of Indiana is a non-profit, pre-professional ballet academy committed to providing dance education for performing artists and engaged members of the community. Training is based on the American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. The studio is described as one of the premiere dance facilities in the region. MYB presents professional-quality, affordable classical ballet performances and offers free outreach events at libraries, schools, and festivals.

New families must create an account in the Studio Director portal. New students may enroll at any time. There is an annual Family Registration Fee of $40 for returning families and $50 for new families. No refunds after 1 calendar month of classes, except in certain circumstances reviewed case-by-case. Unpaid balances must be cleared to register for the next semester or any summer programs.
