About
The STEM Connection Summer Camps offer summer camps that connect youth with STEM in nature through hands-on learning in outdoor spaces that include a river, forest, fields, and a garden. In addition to summer camps, the program also offers field trips, reverse field trips, STEM Kits, STEM Professional Development opportunities, STEM Quick Wins activity videos, and educator resources. Programs combine a deep understanding of academic standards and learning modalities with a commitment to experiential learning and inquiry.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
The STEM Connection Summer Camps use curriculum and educational materials developed in-house by licensed Indiana educators who specialize in Elementary and Secondary Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, and English-Language Arts. The organization states a mission to engage youth in STEM principles through accessible, nature-related experiences with a commitment to those who are underrepresented in STEM careers, with the stated hope that these experiences will fuel dreams and inspire futures in STEM. The program reports that in 2025 it served 65% youth of color, 52% youth from low-income households, and over 50% girls. The STEM Connection identifies core values of “Take care of yourself. Take care of others. Take care of the earth.” and expresses gratitude for the support of its partners and relationships with neighborhood schools. The STEM Connection’s first summer camp was in 2014.
