About

Tutoring offers 1:1 Orton-Gillingham tutoring for students who are struggling with reading and spelling. The program provides both online tutoring and in-person tutoring, along with comprehensive evaluations to test for dyslexia. Tutoring also connects with related offerings such as training for every level and the school-based ReadySetREAD program, which uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading and writing in small groups during the school day.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Camp Delafield is a 5 week summer full day camp.

The Dyslexia Institute of Indiana offers comprehensive evaluations to test for dyslexia, including a one-hour parent consultation with a Dii dyslexia specialist and a 90-minute post-testing conference with the psychologist. Testing is administered by a certified school psychologist. For students age 16 and older, Dii provides a college prep evaluation. Camp Delafield is a summer day camp focused on reaching the “whole child” through academic mornings, including 1:1 Orton-Gillingham tutoring daily, as well as play-filled activities each afternoon. The ReadySetREAD program is an initiative focused on creating literacy in schools and uses the Orton-Gillingham approach in small groups during the school day. Wells Outreach Tutoring Services enabled Dii to provide services year round instead of only in the summer.

Believing that all people are entitled to fulfill their potential, the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana exists to serve children, adolescents and adults with specific learning disabilities. Dii has been effectively helping children with dyslexia and other learning differences improve literacy skills since 1989 and was incorporated in 1989. Camp Delafield was first held in 1990. In 1992, half of all students who attended Camp Delafield received scholarships and A Reading Place for Adults was launched. In 1995, Wells Outreach Tutoring Services was first launched. In 2006, the ReadySetREAD program was launched in schools. In 2014, Dii was 25 years old, and in 2025, Dii is 36 years strong. Over the past 36 years, more than 5,000 students have been served, millions have been raised for programs through donations, and there are 82 staff members across all Indiana counties. Camp Delafield, Wells Outreach Tutoring Services, ReadySetREAD, and Educational Testing continue to grow and evolve to meet community needs, and Dii is thankful for members of the community that serve on its board.
