National Team Development Program
USA Football Headquarters, 45 N. Pennsylvania St., Suite 800, Indianapolis, IN 46204
About
The National Team Development Program is a pathway for flag football players to improve their skills through off-season technical training, physical training, mental performance work, strength and conditioning, and guidance on nutrition, hydration, rest, and recovery. Athletes train, compete, and are evaluated through Talent ID Camps, Digital Combines, Accelerators, and other evaluation events to earn potential invitations to USA Football's Select Bowl, Stars & States, and U.S. National Team Trials. The program also aims to identify the next generation of coaches through its evaluations and competitions, which are a key step on the pathway to TEAM USA FOOTBALL®.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Price: TEAM USA FOOTBALL® Youth Athlete ID ($35); Adult Athlete ID ($39.50); TEAM USA FOOTBALL® Coach ID ($54.50); TEAM USA FOOTBALL® Official ID ($44.50)
Athletes in the National Team Development Program participate in USA Football's Digital Combine, a virtual platform for evaluating elite flag football talent where they submit videos of specific drills through GMTM, and top performers may earn invitations to the Select Bowl, Stars & States, and U.S. National Team Trials. USA Football's Accelerator is a two-day, invite-only evaluation event focused on position-specific development for National Team Development Program athletes and provides additional opportunities for high-level training, competition, coaching instruction, and exposure to scouts. The Select Bowl brings together top rising flag athletes from across the country to train for the next level of national competition in front of U.S. National Team Scouts, with more than 20 Select Team opportunities and each Select Team led by specially trained coaching staff. Stars & States features 16 teams across four age divisions in a 5v5 competition, with emerging flag football athletes from California, Texas, Florida, and the Tri-State area who represent their hometowns, train with top coaches, improve skills, and showcase their talent. Across these events, athletes receive coaching, performance feedback, and training to help prepare for future USA Football opportunities.
As the National Governing Body of American football, USA Football selects, trains, and leads the U.S. National Teams, while delivering football development resources, sport standards, and competitive opportunities to empower athletes at every level. USA Football is the official National Governing Body for American football in the United States and the sole U.S. member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), and it is formally certified as the sport’s official National Governing Body by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). To be evaluated and considered to coach at a Talent ID Camp, a coach must have a TEAM USA FOOTBALL® Coach ID, pass the Advanced Flag Course, complete SafeSport training, and take an NCSI Background Check before participating in a USA Football event and submitting an application. To officiate, an official must have a TEAM USA FOOTBALL® Official ID, complete the Flag Officials Course and SafeSport training, and pass an NCSI Background Check.
