About

The Youth Services Program is part of Westminster Neighborhood Services’ youth offerings, which have grown to include afterschool programming and a mentoring program. The program seeks to provide a safe, nurturing environment which reinforces and enriches academic skills, teaches social skills, encourages good citizenship, develops leadership traits and provides activities to encourage a healthy lifestyle for children ages 6-14.

• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Food Pantry & Soup Kitchen hours on Mondays and Thursdays (Food Pantry 9 a.m.–12 p.m., Soup Kitchen 10–11:45 a.m.) and Food Pantry hours on Tuesdays (6–7 p.m.)

In 1982, three Near Eastside neighborhood churches, including Westminster Presbyterian Church, began serving youth during a summer program, and Westminster’s youth program later grew to include afterschool programming and a mentoring program. Westminster Neighborhood Services states that its mission is to provide education support, access to basic needs, and community connections to empower neighbors and strengthen youth and families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. Today, Westminster partners with more than 20 community organizations to assist with program services, including programs such as health and wellness classes and financial literacy.
