Happy Hollow Children's Camp offers activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and spending time at the beach at Lilly Lake. Campers can take part in horseback riding, archery, high and low ropes courses, zip lines, zap lines, and gaga ball. The program also includes communication skills, team building skills, life skills, leadership development, and both recreational and educational activities supported by a library, tech center, and indoor and outdoor nature centers.
The camp takes place on an 850-acre campground with spacious upgraded cabins, campfire circles, a library and tech center, indoor and outdoor nature centers, and on-staff nurses and other medical staff. Happy Hollow Children's Camp has been serving summer since 1951. Its mission is to provide an outdoor experience for everyone, especially youth, that encourages human potential through exploration, connection, and self-discovery. The program is open every day of the year and offers a Signature Summer Camp as well as Camp 365 for year-round camp experiences. Scholarships and sliding scale pricing, transportation assistance, and support services are available, and the camp describes having friendly counselors and program staff and campfire circles with new and old friends. The organization states that it engages with other agencies, organizations, donors, and funders to strengthen the community. One former camper, Mary Caldwell, describes attending every summer as a child, staying for a week, enjoying learning how to row and go canoeing, receiving postcards from her mother during the week, and states that every child should get to experience Happy Hollow.
