In 2014, the founder began looking for a place to open a foreign language learning center for children. Ready, Set, Kids describes itself as a family enrichment center and as a place for families to find classes of all kinds, with programs for expecting parents to pre-teens and for new parents with children ages 0–4. The mission statement says that the program believes every child is intelligent, that teachers make a difference, and that a good relationship will help a child learn, and it states a goal “to help grow great world citizens.” The intention when Ready, Set, Kids was started was to be a resource for the community and a warm, nurturing space where families could bring their children to dive deeper into areas such as Spanish, science, music, fitness, or getting support as a new parent. The program states that it works hard to meet the needs of the community and that it has become its own community.
Leadership and staff names listed include Emily (also listed as Emily H. and signing as “Emily & the RSK Team”), Lauren H., Emma M., Meghan, and Grace G. Parent testimonials describe the program as meeting hopes for language learning, as a support for families, and mention positive experiences with yoga and Spanish, including comments from Erin L., Fang-Yi L., Ashley D., and Vanessa W.
