The Chestnut Hill School Summer Camp has provided children ages 4–14 with an exceptional summer camp experience for more than 50 years. The Chestnut Hill School has been a leader in early childhood and elementary education for over 150 years, and the school serves students from age 3 through Grade 6, with an Early Childhood program beginning at age 3, a Lower School for Grades 1–3, and an Upper School for Grades 4–6.
Numerous traditional, innovative performing arts, and STEM classes are taught by caring and experienced staff, and many staff members were campers themselves. The camp features uniquely designed camper divisions, activity schedules, and community-wide special events, as well as elective art, drama, music, science, and sport activities for campers in Grades 1–8, a Senior Camp (Grades 7–8) activity and trip program, and a Counselor in Training/leadership program for Grades 9–10. Additional features include weekly themes and group performances, early and extended day hours, low camper-to-staff ratios, experienced and a high percentage of returning staff, and instructional and free swim in heated pools. Summer Camp 2026 registration opens on Monday, December 1st.
The Chestnut Hill School states that childhood optimism and enduring curiosity can transform the world and that the elementary years form a crucial foundation for a love of learning and respect for others. The school emphasizes core values of kindness, belonging, pursuit of knowledge, and perseverance, and staff focus on building positive relationships with students and cultivating a learning environment in which students can express their authentic identities, be active participants, take risks in the learning process, pursue their interests, and explore their place in the world. The school states that a child’s focus should be on living joyfully today because it will lead to a sense of fulfillment tomorrow.
The Chestnut Hill School reaffirms a long-standing non-discriminatory policy of admission and admits students of any race, color, religion, gender, family structure, sexual orientation, or national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally afforded or made available to students at the school, and does not discriminate in violation of any law or statute in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid programs, and athletic or other school-administered programs.
The Chestnut Hill School Summer Camp complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and is licensed by the local Board of Health. The camp is also an accredited member of the American Camping Association.
One parent of an Intermediate Camp camper reported that the camp was a great fit for their son, highlighting the choice of activities and counselors, and noting that their child especially liked rock band, movie making, puzzles and games, and camp newspaper classes. Other testimonials from school parents, faculty, and leadership describe CHS teachers as experts in early and middle childhood, refer to a strong foundational curriculum that is ever-evolving, and describe CHS as a place where students are known as individuals and see themselves in many roles such as writers, mathematicians, poets, scientists, musicians, and athletes.
