About

Sail Salem Youth Sailing Programs offers Youth Summer Sailing Camps for ages 8 to 18. Younger sailors ages 8 to 12 learn in Opti sailboats, and older sailors ages 13 to 18 use 420 or Sonar sailboats. The youth summer camp is regulated by the Salem Board of Health, and all student sailors are swim tested on the first day.

Programs

  • Youth Summer Sailing Camps — 8 to 18 years old · Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM
  • Adult Learn-to-Sail Program — 21 and older · Tuesdays and Thursdays; June–July sessions 5:30pm to 7:30pm, August sessions 5:00pm to 7:00pm · Designed for adults who want to learn the joys of sailing in Salem Harbor and who have little to no sailing experience. Classes are limited to six students per session.

Scholarships and financial aid are available for Sail Salem programs. Program instructors are First Aid and CPR certified, background checked, and US Sailing Level 1 certified. Students are required to wear US Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets when on the boats, and one lifeguard is required for every 25 students.
