About
Sail Salem Youth Sailing Programs offers Youth Summer Sailing Camps for ages 8 to 18. Younger sailors ages 8 to 12 learn in Opti sailboats, and older sailors use 420 or Sonar sailboats. The youth program uses 17-foot motorboats that follow and stay close to student sailors.
Programs
- Youth Summer Sailing Camps — 8 to 18 years old · One week, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM
- Adult Learn-to-Sail Program — 21 and older · Two hours, once a week, for five weeks; Tuesdays and Thursdays; June–July 5:30pm–7:30pm; August 5:00pm–7:00pm · For adults with little to no sailing experience.

About the provider
The program’s mission is fun, safe and accessible sailing. Scholarships and financial aid are available for Sail Salem programs. The youth sailing programs are supported, in part, by generous donations, the Sail Salem Pursuit Regatta sponsored by the Boston Yacht Club, and the Snowflake Regatta.
Scholarships and financial aid are available for Sail Salem programs. The youth summer camp is regulated by the Salem Board of Health. All student sailors are swim tested on the first day. Students are required to wear US Coast Guard Approved Life Jackets when on the boats. One lifeguard is required for every 25 students. Program instructors are First Aid and CPR certified, background checked, US Sailing Level 1 certified, and trained. Youth camps welcome youths of all skill levels.
