Children’s Theatre of Annapolis has been offering theatre arts education and productions in central Maryland since 1959 and was founded by Jane Young Davis, Lydia Nolan, and Martha Wright with a production of “Hansel and Gretel” in 1959. The organization is a community-based, 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to involving children ages 5 to 18 in performance, workshops, technical elements, community involvement, and apprenticeships, and it states that it provides a positive circle of influence through friendships that foster self-esteem, creativity, commitment, teamwork, appreciation, and dedication. CTA describes itself as Central Maryland's premiere youth theatre program and notes that its annex is being transformed into a multipurpose arts center with two new classrooms and a black box theater that will seat more than 75 patrons.

The program’s unique features include Wee Kids Cabaret and Broadway Kids Spectacular sessions that each conclude with a live performance on the main stage that is free for family and friends to attend. Disney’s Dare To Dream JR is described as a fast-paced, three-week production camp, and Stage & Tech Camp participants work as the backstage crew for tech rehearsals and two live performances, running the tech booths and managing backstage operations during live shows. An Extended Care program offers before care and after care for campers outside regular camp sessions.

For Broadway Kids Spectacular – Session 1, students must bring a healthy lunch, two snacks, and a labeled water bottle, wear dance shoes or secured sneakers with clothing suitable for movement, and keep hair pulled back; individual costumes are the responsibility of the actor, while CTA provides specialty costumes and accessories. One free CTA Summer Camp t-shirt is included with tuition if registration is completed by May 25, 2025, with additional shirts available for purchase while supplies last, and an Annual Registration Fee is required for all workshops. The cancellation policy offers a full refund minus online processing fees up to three weeks before class, a refund minus a $75 administrative fee and processing fees up to two weeks before, and no refund starting the first day of class.

Miss Tiffany, who teaches in the program, has been studying dance and theatre for over 30 years and has trained at Towson University, The Studio Theatre in DC, AACC, Palomar College, and CA University in San Marcos. The leadership team includes an Executive Board, Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and staff such as the Executive Director of Management and Education, the Executive Director of Development and Engagement, the Technical Director, and the Box Office Coordinator. In terms of recognition, Children’s Theatre of Annapolis received the Ruby Griffith Award for All-Around Production Excellence in 2018 for “Beauty and the Beast,” was named Best Theatre Company in Annapolis in The Capital’s 2019 Readers Choice Awards, and was awarded Best Nonprofit in Annapolis from What’s Up? Media in 2020.

CTA states that it serves both children and the community and that its Growing Our Reach capital campaign focuses on expanding its existing home and building a stronger arts community in Annapolis and the State of Maryland. The organization notes that its programs are designed to be open and accessible to everyone, that it engages a broad range of participants, audiences, staff, and volunteers, and that it uses performances, educational programs, and outreach efforts to foster a supportive atmosphere. Community outreach to schedule performances outside the facility is handled through its publicity email address.
