Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore is a nonprofit organization that runs programs in Health & Well-being, Character & Leadership, Academic Success, and Life & Workforce Readiness. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore has 10 service sites and 1 Flagship Club in development, reaching 4,400 youth across 4 counties. Its mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need the Clubs most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The organization states that it believes every kid has what it takes and notes that kids who attend a Boys & Girls Club in Maryland report feeling safer at the Club than in other places they spend their time, feeling like their ideas count at the Club, and having at least two Club adults they could turn to in a crisis. Youth who attend also report that there is a staff member who always wants them to do their best and a staff member who believes they will be a success.
With over 160 years of evidence from Boys & Girls Clubs, the model combines trained staff, safe and welcoming spaces, and innovative, quality programs to drive positive outcomes in four areas. The organization highlights core values that include embracing perspective by valuing and celebrating diverse lived experiences, a relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, and dynamic passion that brings energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and adaptability to the work. The leadership team includes a Director of Communications, Nicole Anderson.
Community involvement includes Under Armour’s annual Rookie Week, during which Under Armour Rookies assemble backpacks filled with school supplies for Club members and meet campers and families. Community members, alumni, elected officials, partners, and supporters have also gathered for a preview of the new Boys & Girls Club at Mace's Lane Community Center. For material support, the organization does not accept used goods, and new items may be purchased through the Clubs’ Amazon Wish Lists.
