ABC Care is a nonprofit corporation that offers before and after school year programs and summer camp programs for school-age children from kindergarten through eighth grade. The program includes a designated area for homework to promote increased concentration and team-building activities that encourage collaboration, problem solving, communication, cooperation, and creative thinking. Its stated purpose is to help all children develop to the best of their abilities and to provide an atmosphere in which they can learn to share and be a supportive member of a team.

ABC Care’s mission is to provide an exceptional child care program for children of varying school ages, from kindergarten through eighth grade, through unique, age-appropriate experiences, promoting individual growth and development. Programs are located throughout Carroll County and in northwest Baltimore County, including before and after school childcare programs in 14 public and private schools in Carroll and Northwestern Baltimore counties.

ABC Care school-based centers and summer camp programs hire supervisors and staff members who demonstrate experience and skills for working with children, including enthusiasm, compassion, patience, and respect. All staff undergo state and federal criminal background checks and complete up to 24 hours of Core of Knowledge and child supervisory training, as well as First Aid/CPR and health and wellness training.

Parent feedback includes comments that staff are “always super friendly in the mornings” and “genuinely interacting with children (games, crafts, etc.),” and that staff are “very accepting and tolerant of whatever activity the kids choose,” including older elementary students. Another parent notes that the center and staff are “always dependable” and welcome their child each morning “with a smile and a ‘good morning.’” A third parent describes the staff as “exemplary,” mentions that their child was encouraged to assist younger children and learn leadership skills, and notes that having the service provided at the school was very convenient and that the care was affordable.
