Bar-T offers Kids Club before- and after-school programs during the school year, as well as summer day camp programs that include JLIT, LIT, Junior Counselor, and Senior Counselor roles. The Bar-T experience includes after-school childcare, summer day camps, outdoor education, corporate team building, and events. Summer day camps are offered one week at a time.
• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: School-year Kids Club runs September–June with before-school options around 7:00am–9:30am and after-school options around 3:00pm–6:30pm; summer programs and leadership roles generally run weekdays 8:30am–3:30pm from June through August, with JLITs committing to at least 4 weeks.
• Price: JLIT 2026 Summer Fee: $1,000.00 (regardless of the number of weeks attended); LIT compensation: $100 per week.
Bar-T has a stated mission of providing after-school childcare, summer day camps, outdoor education, corporate team building, and events, and offering a variety of fun, educational school year programs and summer day camps that fuel children’s emerging interests and talents. The organization notes 50 years of positive impact and ongoing positive impact on generations of Maryland families.
School-Age Teachers must be at least 19 years old and show proof of specific childcare training and at least 400 hours of childcare experience, while Directors and Assistant Directors must be at least 19 years old with additional director training and at least 800 hours of childcare experience. Aides must be at least 16 years old, JLIT applicants must be 14 by June 5th, LIT applicants 15 by June 5th, Junior Counselors 16 by June 5th, and Senior Counselors 18 by June 5th. Returning Bar-T Summer Staff positions are open to returning employees ages 15 and up, and substitute positions are assigned on an as-needed basis and may be scheduled last minute. Bar-T notes a Director career track with a transparent salary band, growth opportunities, and benefit-eligible positions that include healthcare, vision, dental, and an employee assistance program.
JLIT programs run at all Bar-T camp locations, and Bar-T bus transportation is available for JLITs to both Mountainside and Ranch. JLITs must commit to at least four weeks in the summer between June and August. Required summer camp trainings are scheduled on Friday, June 5th (7:00pm–9:00pm), Saturday, June 6th (8:00am–5:00pm), and Saturday, June 13th (8:00am–5:00pm).
Parent and former camper comments describe experiences at Kids Camp, Mountainside, and the before- and after-school programs, including references to staff, counselors, and management, and note that children were engaged with activities instead of watching TV at home.
