About
Glen Echo Park Camps for Children & Teens offers day camps that focus on visual arts, music, theater, nature and aquatic life, dance and movement, photography, painting, and drawing. Camps take place in a setting that includes a restored 1921 Dentzel carousel, numerous art studios and galleries, and the historic Spanish Ballroom.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Most camps run 9am–3pm, with day camps offered all summer plus several spring break and winter break camps
The program’s 2026 summer camps run from June 22 through August 21. After Camp is available to extend the camper’s day until 6pm. Praline Café offers kid-friendly camp lunches to buy weekly, and each order must be placed the week before camp. Volunteer camp counselor positions are available and qualify for SSL hours.
Glen Echo Park fosters creativity and a love of the arts as well as a sense of community. All programs are produced in cooperation with the National Park Service and Montgomery County, Maryland. The Park is home to 13 resident artists and organizations, including two award-winning children’s theaters, and offers hundreds of classes in areas such as ceramics, painting, photography, glass, music, and dance. It is also home to a thriving social dance program, free summer concerts, festivals, and special events that bring thousands of visitors each year.
One participant shared that the learning and shared experiences at the Park over the years strengthened their understanding of themselves and of the arts as a basic necessity. Another described how dancing at Glen Echo Park, especially in the Spanish Ballroom with its variety of dance offerings, bands, and lessons before each dance, kept them returning over many years.
