About

Glen Echo Park Classes & Camps offers hundreds of classes in visual and performing arts, including ceramics, painting, photography, glass, music, dance, and other fine crafts. The program also includes a nature and aquatic life program for kids, social dance, and access to free summer concerts, festivals, and special events. Classes and camps take place within a setting that includes numerous art studios and galleries, two award-winning children's theaters, and a restored 1921 Dentzel Carousel.

Glen Echo Park Classes & Camps is managed by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, led by CEO Katey Boerner. The Park is home to 13 resident artists and organizations and is described as one of the finest cultural resources in the Washington, DC area. All programs are produced in cooperation with the National Park Service and Montgomery County, Maryland, and the Partnership is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and by funding from the Montgomery County government and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County. The Park also offers a pilot Dance for PD class series in partnership with Dance for PD (Parkinson's Disease), and these Dance for PD classes are free for participants, care partners, and family members. Glen Echo Park states that it fosters creativity and a love of the arts as well as a sense of community. One member, student, and volunteer, Laura C., says that the learning and shared experiences at the Park have strengthened her understanding of herself and of the arts as a basic necessity. Social dancers Bob and Francine L. say they enjoy the beauty of the Spanish Ballroom, the wide variety of dance offerings such as Waltz Time, the bands that play at the dances, and the lessons offered before each dance.
