Hagerstown Children's School

Hagerstown Children's School offers Montessori-based programs in six classrooms, with educators who are trained in the Montessori method. The school includes Pre-Primary, Primary, and Kindergarten programs that follow the work of Dr. Maria Montessori.

Hagerstown Children's School was founded in 1994 and has more than 30 years of experience in early childhood education. It has grown from a one-room preschool serving 20 students a year to six classrooms that currently serve more than 120 students from age 2 through kindergarten. The school is non-sectarian, non-public, and no-profit, and its guiding philosophy is founded in peace education, community service, and nurturing the whole child in her pursuit of learning. Its mission states that trusted educators foster self-directed learning, good work habits, self-confidence, self-reliance, and creative and critical thinking skills in the youngest members of the community. As members of a larger society, the school community engages as neighbors and practices acts of generosity, kindness, and peace. The program operates under License Number #253425. One parent shared, “The Montessori program is really something special. It develops a child's natural sense of curiosity, it gives them a chance to explore.”
