Synergy Martial Arts

Synergy Martial Arts offers martial arts training in Tang Soo Do for kids, teens, and adults. The program includes Kids Martial Arts, Teen Martial Arts, Adult Martial Arts, After-School Karate, and a Summer Camp that blends martial arts with physical and educational activities. Students can try a class for free.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and program options Monday–Friday between 10:00 am and 9:00 pm, and Saturday between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm

Synergy Martial Arts offers After-School Karate for ages 5–12 as a structured, active alternative to regular after-school care, with martial arts training, self-defense techniques, homework help, and educational and physical activities. The Summer Camp for ages 5–12 combines martial arts with educational activities and physical activities.

Synergy Martial Arts has over 30 years of experience. Master Derek DePaolis is the Owner and Head Instructor and holds a 6th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, and Master Michael DePaolis is the Lead Martial Arts Instructor and holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do. Master Derek DePaolis was a 2023 International Tang Soo Do Federation Hall of Fame Inductee, and Master Michael DePaolis received the 2023 International Tang Soo Do Spirit Award.

According to its mission statement, Synergy Martial Arts bases every lesson on core values of honesty, compassion, and self-esteem, and emphasizes rejecting dishonesty, laziness, disrespect, insincerity, and complacency. The program describes itself as family-oriented, with a community built on respect, discipline, and continuous growth. Under the leadership of Master Derek DePaolis, Synergy Martial Arts is described as a cornerstone of the Odenton community.
