Camp Excellent runs from June 16, 2025 to August 1, 2025 as part of the 2025 camp season. The program includes free breakfast, free lunch, and a camp T-shirt, and offers extended care upon request. AFTERPAY is available for camp weeks, families can register for all seven weeks and pay over time, and a multi-family discount is available. The program also accepts sponsorships and donations that are used as tuition to cover the cost for a child to attend Camp Excellent.
Supplies are required for each discipline. For music, the text is provided and a white T-shirt is listed, with additional items to be determined. For dance, the supply list includes a leotard, royal blue dance shorts, dance shoes, a hand towel, and a water bottle. For art, the list includes a small 12 x 12 art canvas, a box of colored pencils, and a pack of paintbrushes. For theater, the text is provided, along with a black T-shirt and black leggings.
Camp Excellent is operated by Excellent Productions, Inc., a non-profit arts organization focused on positive expression in music, dance, theater, and ministry that reflects faith and culture in today's world. Excellent Productions was established to create a platform throughout Maryland that promotes the traditions of arts in America by cultivating artistic excellence, encouraging new initiatives, discerning the talents of emerging artists, nurturing a community for new work, and advocating for a non-discriminative voice on stage and in film. The leadership team for the camp includes Executive Director Ramona Jones-McClain, Art Director Russell McClain Jr., Artistic Director Aaron Androh, Music Director Kalifa Maddox, Dance Director Amya Jones, and Business Director Renaya Lekwuwa.
Excellent Productions grew out of the Young Adult Ministry of Concord Baptist, which in 2001 was looking for an activity to do with their children. On February 22, 2002, the group performed its first musical stage play, and in February 2004 it presented the world premiere of “The Music In My Soul.” The organization achieved 501(c)(3) status in May 2005. Over time, it received attention from the Baltimore Office of Promotions and the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council and was encouraged to seek official recognition as a regional performance group from the National Endowment for the Arts. The group was recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts as a regional theatrical group and is a regional member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Baltimore Theater Alliance. The organization has launched the careers of members who are now working Off-Broadway, in the Atlanta music industry, in Hollywood, and in the local entertainment scene.
