A Child's Garden

A Child's Garden offers morning preschool classes and full-day extended care for children. The program operates with low adult-child ratios and small group sizes. It maintains a peanut and tree nut free environment and specializes in the care of children with food allergies.

• Ages: 1–3 years old
• Schedule: Morning preschool classes from 9 a.m. to noon, with extended care available Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A Child's Garden was founded in 2001 as a sister school to Wee Lad & Lassie, with a focus on the very young learner. Programs include a toddler program for children who are 18 months old, a 2-year-old program, and a 3-year-old program, with varied attendance schedules ranging from two half-days to five full days. The program states a mission to provide a stimulating, developmentally appropriate environment that responds to individual needs and learning styles and includes parents as partners in the learning community. Teachers are degreed, use the principles of developmentally appropriate practice, and are committed to continued professional growth. A Child's Garden is accredited by the Maryland Department of Education (MSDE) and has a 5 Check Maryland EXCELS rating, which is the highest rating under the Maryland EXCELS program based on nationally recognized quality standards and best practices. In 2005, it became one of the few independent preschool programs to be accredited by the Maryland Department of Education Early Childhood Accreditation Project, and in 2015 it became one of the only Early Childhood Programs in Anne Arundel County to receive the highest Maryland EXCELS rating.
