About
Theater in the Park offers Musical Theater Workshops where children take part in auditioning, acting, staging, theater, choreography, singing, producing a show, dancing, and learning tech team skills. The program includes specific options such as Broadway Babies, Broadway Juniors, Broadway Preteens, Broadway Teens, Broadway Mixteens, Youth Actor's Studio (YAS), Pitch Perfect for Kids, Superstars Acting and Storytelling, Musical Theater DANCE Workshop, Musical Theater Tech Workshop, Vocal Workshop, Acting Workshops, and a Homeschool Musical Theater Intensive. In a few rehearsals, these young actors produce and perform a Broadway musical, and the next Musical Theater Workshop production will be Little Mermaid Jr starting January 31st.

Theater in the Park is a mother/daughter business in the local community of Severna Park, MD, operating as Theater in the Park LLC and owned by Jennifer Lee. Jennifer Lee directed at Annapolis High School from 1995–2005, is a retired teacher of Photography from Anne Arundel County Schools, and owns Sunset Pics Photography. Kylie Airin Sjolie is one of the lead directors for Theater in the Park, has been directing children's theater since 2013, and is the Sales Marketing and Event Coordinator at the Severna Park Community Center. Youth Actor's Studio is directed by Phil Kittiver, and the staff are experienced and trained performers and educators who live in the Baltimore/Washington area.
Theater in the Park’s mission is to be a program for kids ages 3–16 to learn and experience theater through acting classes, vocal training, and Musical Theater Workshops. Through Youth Actor's Studio, Pitch Perfect for Kids, and the Musical Theater Workshops, students experience a Broadway-style production from beginning to end with costumes, sets, a sound system, and a group of trained directors. The program describes itself as a low pressure environment that works toward raising the self esteem and confidence of each cast member, and notes that many actors return each season because of their experience with theater friends and directors. Theater in the Park states that it strives to be a fun place for kids to be creative and to be themselves while learning the craft.
Theater in the Park offers vocal, acting, and production workshops at the Severna Park Community Center. The program has been voted Best Music Instruction Program from 2021–2025. Families who register for three workshops during one season receive the Triple Threat Discount of $90 back and a Triple Threat Medal.
