About

PAYSA Soccer - Minis offers youth soccer with game-based learning focused on basic soccer skills. Each week, practice squads take part in new activities that use games to teach these basic skills.

• Ages: 4–5 years old
• Schedule: Saturdays from September 12 to October 17, 2026, with 45-minute sessions for 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds
• Price: $85 resident / $100 non-resident (includes a shirt and mini soccer ball; fee waiver eligible)

The program goal is to give each child a positive first experience of youth soccer. It is only for residents of Portland or children who attend school in Portland. The Parks, Recreation, & Facilities Department is partnering with PAYSA for the fall 2026 rec soccer season.

Practice squads aim to have no more than 10 children total, with 2 volunteer coaches. The league is run with the help of volunteer coaches, and each team has at least two coaches. There is a mandatory coaches pre-season meeting on Saturday, September 5, from 9:00–10:00 a.m., where coaches receive team rosters, practice schedules, and game schedules. Coaches commit to one practice per week of about 45–60 minutes.

Players must bring shin guards, cleats or sneakers, comfortable clothing, and a water bottle. Parents and caregivers must remain on-site. Recreation Leader Kerrigan Manter is listed for the program, and Emily Collins is the contact for fee waivers.
