RISE: Refugee Youth Support – Tutoring & Mentoring is part of a broader set of JFS youth and family services that have been serving the community since 1993. Within this larger network, youth programs include Youth Mentoring, Youth Groups, JFSupport one-on-one school tutoring, Refugee School Impact for ORR-eligible students, and a Youth Scoop monthly newsletter. Thrive clinicians support children and young adults ages 5–25 and their families, with services that include individual and family therapy, youth groups, community outreach, and training future clinicians. Nourish Nutrition Services offers pantry access for households with youth, along with Medically Tailored Meals and Healthy Home Delivered Meals for eligible children with nutrition-sensitive conditions through Medicaid. JFSGO & Education provides transportation for unhoused students in Ann Arbor Public Schools and offers ESL, civics, and limited work-skills classes for ages 18 and older. Most JFS volunteer roles are for ages 18 and older, but minors may inquire with a guardian, and youth may also participate in special programming at the WISE Senior Center. Community Assistance offers support with benefits, utility assistance, and other resources for families with children. JFS states that every young person deserves the support, tools, and opportunities to thrive, and notes that its services range from basic needs like food and transportation for older adults to an out-patient behavioral health clinic for individuals and families. The organization references having accreditations for its work.
