Spotlight Youth Theatre Camp is the 3rd annual youth theatre camp connected with the Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center. The leadership team for the broader theatre program includes Director Joseph Yow, Theatre Coordinator Matt Hill, Box Office Assistant Brenda Ficek, and Theatre Technician Jacob Becker. The mission of the Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center is to create an environment where local performing artists can develop their craft, to share with the community diverse, high-quality arts programming, and to grow a community of practitioners and lovers of the performing arts. The theatre program began in 1968 at Brainerd Community College under instructor Bob Dryden, expanded with the Cultural Arts Series started by Patrick Spradlin in 2006, and was designated in 2012 as an arts affiliate of the college, assuring the continued viability of Brainerd Community Theatre and the Cultural Arts Series.

The program states that theatre should be accessible to all and offers suggested tuition options, and if cost is a concern, staff will work with participants to make participation possible. Wireless hearing devices are offered at no additional charge for most performances. Approximately 33 seats in rows M and N in Chalberg Theatre can be reached without using stairs, and chairs in that area are removable to accommodate a wheelchair. Events in Dryden Theatre use general admission seating, and Central Lakes College students are eligible to receive a discount on in-house theatre productions and cultural arts series events. This activity is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
